Sunset Country sells itself as "Canada's Premier Fishing Destination" and they can back it up! With 70,000 freshwater lakes and rivers, the region can definitely lay claim to some of the best fishing in Ontario. Remote outpost cabins, five star fishing lodges and fly-in resorts - they are all here. You also have a wide variety of campgrounds to choose from or for something completely different, try an Ontario houseboat rental. The fishing is fantastic!

The vast tracts of boreal forest in sunset country are home to many spiecies of big game. Ontario, Canada Canoe and Kayak Routes
Three wilderness Provincial Parks, thousands of miles of inter-connecting waterways and true remoteness make Sunset Country the best place to canoe in Ontario. This region of the Province is home to parks such as Quetico, Wabakimi and Woodland Caribou. These are the grandest and some of the biggest parks in Ontario - a true haven for the wilderness canoeist. Discover petroglyphs on remote lakeshores, campsite all over the place and real wilderness to enjoy - no people!
Canoe outfitters offer route maps, supplies and guided trips if you want. Explore routes once carved out by the Voyageurs! Some parks have access restrictions so the use of a qulaified canoe outfitter is highly recommended.

Houseboat Rentals and Boating on the Lakes in Ontario
If you want a unique vacation experience renting a houseboat is probably the way to go. Cruise immense freshwater lakes and find a different sand beach to moor on overnight. Watch the western sunset from the deck of your houseboat or dive right off the side for a refreshing dip in the lake. In Sunset Country, you can rent houseboats on Lake of the Woods, Lac Seul or Dog Lake.
If you love to do a vaiety of watersports such as tubing, wake boarding or water skiing then we have hundreds of places where you can do that. Public and private boat launches are available on many lakes giving you access to the water. For those without a boat, stay at a resort or lodge and rent a boat while you are there.
